My Journey

I began my wellness journey shortly after I turned 40.  Like most busy moms entering midlife, I started with exercise and nutrition.  My main focus was to become stronger, healthier, more energetic by working out regularly and eating healthier foods.  And, if I lost the extra ten pounds of “fluff” in the process, all the better.

By my mid-forties, I realized there was more to wellness than free weights and kale.  Even though my body was thriving, my inner health was not.  I was feeling less and less connected to friends and family.  I was still dealing with depression and anxiety, despite doing all the things that were supposed to make it better… getting my cardio, light therapy and Vitamin D. There had to be a more personal, spiritual aspect in order to truly feel peaceful, happy, well-balanced.  I started to investigate other holistic modalities.

At the age of 47, I went to a holistic healer for the first time in my life. She called in my spirit guides.  Keep in mind, I was raised in a conservative Midwestern family.  The idea of even having spirit guides, let alone communicating with them seemed as likely to help as asking Kermit the Frog to lend a helping hand.  However, my mind was open to the idea and willing to be open to the process.

She said I had three of them, but one of them emerged as the primary guide.  He was a Native American guy who went by the name of One Feather.  She said he was stoic, with a mischievous side, and that I could talk to him at any time I wanted.  I could ask him questions.  His answers would appear out of nowhere.  She also said to put my questions down in the form of writing.

Hence, this blog, and my continued journey…
